We’re proud to be the Kennedy Cowboys
With expectations high (yee haw!)
When we spur one other to learn and grow
We could round up the stars from the sky
We’re proud to be in the Kennedy Family
No two of us are the same (at all!)
Yet side by side is the way we ride
For we all share the Kennedy name
At Kennedy
Elementary
We are cowboys together standing tall, tall, tall
At Kennedy
Elementary
We are heroes one and all
K E N N ED Y
We’re number one and I’ll tell you why
Look to your left; Look to your right
Look up, look down, look out of sight
‘Cause wherever you look, wherever you track
You’re gonna find a Cowboy’s got your back
At Kennedy
Elementary
We are heroes one and all (yee haw!)

Zoomers!
01:07
|
|
||
For Zoomers Skate Club in Marion, OH, 2008
Zoomers!
I wish I could be at
Zoomers!
I'd be a happier me
Before I even got out of bed my day was turning awful
I overslept, I bumped my head, the toaster burned my waffle
I stepped in gum, I tripped, I missed the bus and had to haul it
My pencil broke, my locker stuck, I think I lost my wallet
I borrowed a buck to buy my lunch then sat down in my queso
Asked a girl to pass the napkins - she laughed right in my face, Oh
Zoomers!
I wish I could be at
Zoomers!
I'd be a happier me
I was having a day so bad that nothing new could spoil it
What happened then? I slipped and dropped my cell phone in the toilet
That's when I chose to take control of how this story ends
I rescued my poor cell phone and I texted all my friends
Now here we are together at the end of this bombastic rhyme
Hanging out at Zoomers and having a fantastic time
Zoomers!
How good it feels!
Zoomers!
Life is better on wheels!

Meet Me at the Library
03:29
|
|
||
For the Eastern Oklahoma Library District System, 2012
She stole my heart in Stilwell
When she walked into my favorite cafe
Lost between a class in Muskogee and a party in Jay
She had a copy of the book I was reading
Proof that our love was fate
I didn't get her name or number but I did get a date
She said, Meet me at the library
We're gonna have a real good time
The computers are groovy you can check out a movie
And it's never gonna cost a dime
She said, Meet me at the library
How could I not say yes?
I wouldn’t miss a chance to start a new romance
At the EODLS! She said meet her at the
EODLS!
I waited by the door to greet her
She never did show her face
So I asked at Information, was I in the right place?
Well I had found the right library system
But the lady had news for me
There were fourteen other locations where my love might be
She said, Meet me at the library
We're gonna have a real good time
The computers are groovy you can check out a movie
And it's never gonna cost a dime
She said, Meet me at the library
How could I not say yes?
But what were the chances there’d be fifteen branches
At the EODLS! She said meet her at the
EODLS!
Muldrow, Muskogee, Warner, Stilwell,
Hulbert, Eufaula, Sallisaw (Hull bert)
Haskell, Ft. Gibson, Kansas, Westville,
Grove, Jay, Checotah, Tahlequah (SHecotah)
I’ll hit these cities and find my love
So we can do the thing I’ve been dreaming of
Parking in a hot spot, Saturday night
Downloading e-books from the library website
I attended a talk in Haskell
Then I hit the highway and drove
I joined writer’s group in Warner and a book club in Grove
I’ve got my library card to guide me
And true love revving my gears
Checked out enough audio books to keep me searching for years!
She said, meet me at the library
Gonna have a real good time / How could I not say yes
Meet me at the library
Never gonna cost a dime / The EODLS! (2x)
She said to meet her at the EODLS
Muldrow, Muskogee, Warner, Stilwell
Hulbert, Eufaula, Sallisaw
Haskell, Ft. Gibson, Kansas, Westville
Grove, Jay, Checotah, Tahlequah

I Go Bananas
02:47
|
|
||
For the Los Angeles Unified School District, 2006
When a certain sweet smell blows in on the breeze
I lift my head and bend my knees,
Then I leap up like a lemur
Searching high among the trees.
I swing by my toes. I follow my nose
'Til I find that fruity treat.
I pick a bunch to begin, then peel back the skin, and...
I go bananas for bananas.
Bananas give me energy.
Whenever I eat bananas I go bananas.
I go bananas for bananas.
Bananas give me energy.
Whenever I eat bananas I go
Bananas!
Swing your arms. Wiggle your tail.
Dance like a monkey. Follow the banana trail.
There's a certain sweet taste I find appealing
When I get it it's a happy, silly feeling
And it makes me wanna jump around like a chimpanzee
'Til my mother hits the ceiling.
And every morning she gives me warning.
She makes me take a seat.
She says, "Your fate will follow from what you swallow, after all, you are..."
Bananas for bananas.
Bananas give me energy.
Whenever I eat bananas I go bananas.
I go bananas for bananas.
Bananas give me energy.
Whenever I eat bananas I go
Bananas!
Clap your hands. Scratch a flea.
Dance like a monkey, climbing a banana tree.
Everybody jump! Everybody spin!
Now can't you just feel that jungle beat getting under your skin?
Everybody stomp! Everybody twist!
Once you unpeel that jungle beat your feet can't resist!
There's only one word to describe this state of mind.
So grab a taste of a tropical place and go - bananas!
Bananas for bananas.
Bananas give me energy.
Whenever I eat bananas I go bananas.
I go bananas for bananas.
Bananas give me energy.
Whenever I eat bananas I go
Bananas!
I go Bananas! (repeat)
Swing your arms. Wiggle your tail.
Dance like a monkey. Follow the banana trail.
Clap your hands. Scratch a flea.
Dance like a monkey, climbing a banana tree.
Flex your muscles. Beat your chest.
Dance like a monkey, eating what a monkey likes best!
Bananas!

For SciStarter.com, 2011
My garden this year is a jumbled-up kind
My cow peas and daisies are all inter-twined
My botanist friend had me plant them just so
She's collecting the data that may help her show
How a good mix of plants brings more insects afield
And maybe more bugs means a healthier yield
And I jumped at the chance to take part in her plan
Cause I'm happy to help when I can
I'm a citizen
Scientist
Citizen
Scientist
Joining the planet-wide dance
That helps human knowledge advance
I've weighed my tomatoes and measured their size
I've counted the cutworms and spiders and flies
My botanist friend takes the data all down
She'll compare it with gardens from all over town
And maybe the numbers will show us the way
Toward gardening well without pesticide spray
But whether or not her study bares any fruit
It has still been a worthwhile pursuit
repeat chorus
And when the garden has been tilled,
What new project will I do?
I could help explore the cosmos
For the Galaxy Zoo
I could sift through tiny fossils from mastodon times
I could try to fold some proteins with Fold.it online
In the Great Backyard Bird Count I could help keep track of birds
With SETI@home I could search for alien words
And for more exciting projects I could start working on
I'll visit s c i starter dot com

Acrocanthosaurus
03:09
|
|
||
For the Museum of the Red River in Idabel, OK, 2010
Acrocanthosaurus buried underneath the ground
One hundred twenty million years you waited to be found
Your bones reveal the tale
Of claws that would impale
And jaws that would avail a preditory carnivore
Still you keep your secrets
My Oklahoma dinosaur
Acrocanthosaurus with your vertebrae so unique
A scientific mystery, they give you your mystique
Like dominoes in a row
Were they more than just for show?
We’d very much like to know what you evolved to grow them for
Still you keep your secrets
My Oklahoma dinosaur
Swing your mighty tail bone
Snap your toothy jaws
Stomp your plodding foot bone
Spring your sharpened claws
Shake your spiny back bone
Sing your lonesome roar
Acrocanthosaurus
My Oklahoma dinosaur
Acrocanthosaurus with your headdress down your spine
We formed a few hypotheses about your cool design
Maybe it kept you warm?
Maybe it made you strong?
Maybe we’re right or wrong but we'll continue to explore
As long as you keep your secrets
My Oklahoma dinosaur
Swing your mighty tail bone
Snap your toothy jaws
Stomp your plodding foot bone
Spring your sharpened claws
Shake your spiny back bone
Sing your lonesome roar
Acrocanthosaurus
My Oklahoma dinosaur

Blast Into Books
02:34
|
|
||
For the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, 2001
Blast into books and out of this world.
Feel the cosmic wind on your face.
Blast into books and out of this world.
Chart your own adventures in space.
Captain’s log, our sensors show a life form in distress.
Ready the away team. Energize.
Map another M-class planet on our mission to explore
strange new worlds aboard the starship, Enterprise.
I’ve seen Star Trek on TV; it’s pretty neat.
But reading really puts me in the captain’s seat!
You gotta blast into books and out of this world.
Feel the cosmic wind on your face.
Blast into books and out of this world.
Chart your own adventures in space.
I fly my x-wing fighter through a rain of blaster fire
while my trusty R2 unit plots a course.
From the planet city Coruscant to Endor’s forest moon
I’ll protect the New Republic from the Dark Side of the Force.
I’ve seen Star Wars at the movies and that’s all right,
but when I read the novels I become a Jedi Knight!
You gotta blast into books and out of this world.
Feel the cosmic wind on your face.
Blast into books and out of this world.
Chart your own adventures in... your own adventures in
space...
Blast into books!

Patrick the Packrat
02:40
|
|||
For the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Midlands, 2000
Here comes Patrick
Hoppin and boppin in his vest
All those pockets
Stuffed with trinkets from his nest
Jingle jangle
Like a walking treasure chest
Here comes Patrick the Packrat
(What's in the pockets, Patrick?)
Magnets, marbles, magic tricks
Pretzels, pencils, pick-up-sticks
Polished rocks, a tin kazoo
A key chain from the Riverbanks Zoo
But look through Patrick's pockets
and you'll never see
a cigarette pack
(No cigarette pack!)
Cause Patrick is smoke free
If you ask him
Why he chooses not to use
He will tell you
He's collecting all the news
On tobacco
What a sure-fire way to loose
You bet your whiskers
Patrick the Packrat
Long ago some packrats
Thought that smoking was the most
But young packrats know better now
Those old packrats are toast
Patrick's club's exclusive
For the most hip hop happenin folk
So before you join his rat pack
You must pledge to never smoke
Here comes Patrick
All the pockets on his vest
Overflowing
Spilling trinkets from his nest
Jingle Jangle
Like a walking treasure chest
Here comes Patrick the Packrat
(What's in the pockets today, Patrick?)
Stickers, play dough, paper planes
Cookies, crayons, candy canes
Plastic lips, a fake tattoo
Every day it's something new
But look through Patrick's pockets
and you'll never see
a cigarette pack
(No cigarette pack!)
Cause Patrick is smoke free

For the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, 1996
There's something going on at the library.
It's a mystery, it's a mystery.
There's something going on at the library.
Go there if you dare and see - it's a mystery!
It was shocking and frightning, his head full of lightning,
with his kite and key there stood Benjamin Franklin.
He looked out through his bifocal lens,
and said, "Welcome to the library, friend."
I was hardly through blinking, when standing there thinking
in his stovepipe hat I saw Abraham Lincoln.
He was talking 'bout the war comin' on.
He said, "Something here is terribly wrong."
I checked the encyclopedia to confirm my wildest fears.
These two men had been dead and gone for more than 100 years.
So what were they doing here?
There's something going on at the library.
It's a mystery, it's a mystery.
There's something going on at the library.
Go there if you dare and see - it's a mystery!
Now I swear I'm not braggin, I heard someone say "Tag," and
when I turned myself around there stood a 40 foot dragon.
She said, "Welcome to my treasure trove.
Pick out anything you want to take home."
Well, I looked over the scene - so many colorful things -
then my eye fell on the pegasus, a horse with two wings.
And he said, "You can take me out for a ride,
but you'd better bring me back on time."
Someone's imagination thought these creatures up long ago,
yet here they were in front of me just as plain as my big toe.
Tell me, how can this be so!
There's something going on at the library.
It's a mystery, it's a mystery.
There's something going on at the library.
Go there if you dare and see - it's a mystery!
It was exciting and shocking, all those animals talking.
There were dinosaurs with pompadours and skeletons walking.
I began to take a good look around.
Every shelf hid something new to be found.
I saw tornadoes and blizzards and witches and wizards
and deep in a volcano, some guitar playing lizards.
I met gold medal olympic stars
and some little lost men from Mars.
Now I know I saw everything I said, but I can tell you don't believe.
You think it's all up in my head, still it feels so real to me.
Don't ask me how it can be!
There's something going on at the library.
It's a mystery, it's a mystery.
There's something going on at the library.
Go there if you dare and see - it's a mystery!

No Go Tell
03:22
|
|
||
For Bank Street College Radio's "Project REACH - Safety Zone, Stay Alert," in New York, New York, 1997
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
If trouble comes along you remember this song.
Shout, “No!” then go, and tell.
Shout, “No!” if someone’s doing you harm.
Shout, “No!” You’ve got to sound the alarm.
Shout, “No!” if it doesn’t feel right.
Shout, “No!” you don’t have to be polite.
Think about it right now - what are some ways to say no?
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
If trouble comes along you remember this song.
Shout, “No!” then go, and tell.
Then go - there’s no reason to stay.
Just go - let your feet take you away.
Just go - like you’re running a race.
Go, go - to a familiar safe place.
Think about it right now - where are some places you could go?
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
If trouble comes along you remember this song.
Shout, “No!” then go, and tell.
And tell - no need to keep it all in.
Just tell - so they won’t do it again.
Just tell - let it out before you bust.
Just tell - tell a person you trust.
Think about it right now - who are some people you could tell?
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
No! Go! Tell!
If trouble comes along you remember this song.
Shout, “No!” then go, and tell.
